Pole & Aerial FAQs Belfast | CIRQUEfit NI

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're completely new to CIRQUEfit NI or just need a little more information before booking, you'll find answers to our most frequently asked questions here.

I've never done Pole or Aerial Hoop before. Can I join?

Absolutely. Our Learn to Fly Beginners courses are specifically designed for complete beginners.

You don't need any previous experience — we'll teach you everything from the ground upwards.

Do I need to be fit, strong or flexible?

No. You don't need to get strong or flexible before you start. That's part of what you'll develop through training.

Our classes are structured to help you progressively build the strength, technique, mobility and confidence you need.

Which class should I start with?

If you've never trained in Pole or Aerial Hoop before, start with one of our Learn to Fly Beginners courses.

If you already have previous Pole or Aerial experience but you're new to CIRQUEfit NI, get in touch and we'll help you find the most appropriate level.

Am I too old to start?

No. Adults start Pole and Aerial Hoop at all different ages, and you don't need a background in gymnastics, dance or fitness to begin. Our adult classes are for ages 18+. We also offer Aerial Youth classes for ages 8+.

What if I'm nervous about coming on my own?

That's completely normal. Plenty of our students arrive for their first class without knowing anyone.

Our classes are small, friendly and supportive, and if you're joining one of our Beginners courses, you'll be learning alongside other people who are starting their journey too.

Can I come and watch a class before I book?

No. We don't allow spectators during classes to protect the safety, privacy and comfort of everyone taking part.

If you'd like to try a class before committing to a full course, get in touch with us to arrange a Taster Class. You'll take part in the session and get a feel for the class, coaching and studio environment for yourself. Taster sessions usually take place within an existing class where a suitable space is available, so we can't guarantee that everyone attending will also be a complete beginner.

Getting Started

How many people are in a class?

Our regular classes are kept small, with a maximum of 8 students. This means your coach has time to work with you individually as well as teaching the group.

How do I know what level I am?

Our classes follow a structured level system designed to help you build your skills progressively. Your coach will let you know when you're ready to move up. If you already have Pole or Aerial experience but are new to CIRQUEfit NI, get in touch before booking and we'll help you choose the most appropriate level.

Can I train in both Pole and Aerial Hoop?

Absolutely. You don't have to choose just one. You can book multiple courses or add additional classes depending on how often you'd like to train.

Do I have to stay in the same class?

No. You can change class times, progress to another level or choose a different discipline between course terms.

Can I join a course after it has already started?

Yes. If there are spaces available and you're at the appropriate level, you can join the remaining weeks by booking individual classes on a Drop-In basis. Our Beginners courses are different because they're designed as structured programmes for complete beginners, so you'll need to join one of these from the beginning.

Can I book Open Training sessions?

Open Training is available to students who are currently booked onto a CIRQUEfit NI course through either a Membership or Pay Per Course booking. It's additional studio time to practise skills you've already been taught in class. Open Training isn't available to Drop-In-only attendees and isn't a coached class or a space for learning new skills independently.

Can I book private training?

Absolutely. You don't need to be a current CIRQUEfit NI student to book a private lesson. Private training is ideal if you'd prefer one-to-one or small-group coaching, can't attend our regular timetable, want to work on specific skills or need training tailored more closely to your individual requirements. Get in touch with us to discuss what you'd like to work on and we'll help arrange the most suitable session.

Classes & Training

Do I need to pay a membership fee to attend CIRQUEfit NI?

No. There is no additional membership or joining fee on top of your class costs. We consider everyone who trains with us regularly part of the CIRQUEfit NI community, whether you choose a monthly Membership, Pay Per Course or eligible Drop-In classes. Our monthly Memberships are simply one way to pay for and organise your regular training — you don't need to purchase one to attend CIRQUEfit.

How do I book classes?

All of our classes, courses and training sessions are booked online in advance through the website (gymcatch). CIRQUEfit NI is a private training studio rather than an open-access gym, so you can't simply arrive at the studio to train without a booking.

What's the difference between Membership, Pay Per Course and Drop-In?

We offer three different ways to train depending on how regularly you'd like to attend and how much flexibility you need. We've explained each option — including prices and what's included — on our Pricing & Memberships page.

What happens if I can't attend my usual class?

Cancel your booking through Gymcatch at least 12 hours before your class starts and you'll automatically receive a class pass.

You can use your pass to book another suitable class during the same term, subject to availability.

How long do I have to use my class pass?

Your class pass must be used during the same course term. Passes expire at the end of the term and can't be carried forward or refunded.

What happens if I cancel with less than 12 hours' notice?

Cancellations made less than 12 hours before your class starts do not receive a class pass. You don't need to contact us separately if you're unable to attend — simply manage your booking through Gymcatch.

Booking, Payment & Attendance

Your First Visit

What should I wear?

Regular gym-style clothing is perfect. For Pole classes, you'll need shorts as skin contact helps you grip the pole safely. For Aerial Hoop, comfortable gym-style clothing is all you need. Jewellery and outdoor shoes should be removed before class.

What should I bring?

Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. You'll have a drawer at the studio where you can safely store your belongings during class.

Where is CIRQUEfit NI?

You'll find us at:

60a Hatton Drive
Belfast
BT6 9BD

Is there parking?

Yes. Free on-street parking is available around the studio.

Are there changing facilities?

Yes. If you need to change before or after your class, you can use the studio bathroom.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive on time and ready to start your class at the scheduled start time. Every class begins with a full warm-up, which is an essential part of training and must be completed before you can take part. If you arrive after the warm-up has started, you won't be able to join the class.

Health, Accessibility & Individual Needs

I have an injury, medical condition or physical limitation. Can I still take part?

When you book online, you'll be asked to complete a waiver declaration where you should provide details of any injuries, medical conditions or physical limitations we need to be aware of. If you think something may affect your ability to take part, we recommend contacting us before booking so we can discuss any limitations or modifications that may be needed. This helps our coaches understand your individual needs and make sure the class is appropriate for you.

I have additional needs or accessibility requirements. Can I still take part?

We want to work with you to find the safest and most suitable way for you to train. Our group classes may not be suitable for every individual need, so please contact us before booking to have a chat about your requirements. Where a group class isn't the right option, we can explore private training and other ways we may be able to adapt your training to suit you. Every person is different, so we'd much rather have a conversation with you than make assumptions about what you can or can't do.
